Non-profit law encompasses aspects of tax law and corporate law. Federal tax law defines what organizations qualify as tax exempt, and addresses the deductibility of charitable contributions. Other federal laws concern corporate governance, telephone solicitation, and charitable fraud. State laws dictate how the organizations are incorporated and governed, how funds are raised and managed, and charitable fraud.
