Introduction
The origins of American labor and employment law can be found in Old World common law. A number of labor related acts were passed in the early 20th century. These acts started to establish the rights of the American workers and their unions. Today, many employee rights are established by statutes; these rights include safety standards, benefit requirements, and employment discrimination protection. Administrative codes and decisions are also an important part of modern day labor and employment law. Some of the areas the administrative law covers are workers compensation, safety, and benefits.
